Service 01
Design Driven Research

I, Kayla van Speyk, will meet with clients to asses the design problem statement. Thoroughly research regarding possible design challenges and solutions is done to achieve a better understanding of the design problem along with valid design solutions. The client is provided with a description as to why certain design solutions are best for their design requirements with the research gathered at hand.

Service 02
Conceptual Development

Various concepts relevant to design solutions generated from the Design Driven Research phase are used to develop unique and functional designs for my clients. These design solutions include furniture design, space layout designs, materials, finishes, and lighting - all to fulfill the client's design requirements. These design solutions are also chosen specifically to accommodate the client's preferred budget.

Service 03
Design Solution

The design solution developed by Kayla van Speyk Interiors depends on the clients' preferences regarding design requirements, the location of where the design will be implemented, their personal budget, and available resources and services. Kayla van Speyk Interiors looks into designs that are sustainable and local; thus, the client will be ensured of a design that provides a healthy interior/exterior environment and promotes their personal health and physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing. Sustainability will be brought to the design through materials that are sustainable and environmental friendly, maximum natural lighting and ventilation, vegetation/plantation for natural cooling and aesthetic purposes, and energy- and water consumption design strategies (solar energy, greywater and rainwater harvesting systems, etc.)

Service 04
Design Implementation

Various human resources, such as contractors, engineers, and builders will take part in the implementation of the final design solution if necessary. The implementation of the design will be sustainable, meaning that the methods used to make the design a reality will not contribute to air- or water pollution, but rather strive to reduce it. Designs and building methods will strive to comply with the requirements set by the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) to provide an interior/exterior environment that promotes both human health and wellbeing and the natural environment.
